Since 1945, Buffalo Turbine LLC has been an innovator in turbine style debris blowers, dusters, misters for dust and odor control, and sprayers. Buffalo Turbine has continued to strive for industry progression. Examples include, the first self-contained tow behind turbine debris blower, first PTO turbine blower, first wirelessly controlled rotation nozzle, first to apply specific nozzle configurations, and the first turbine style sprayer. With an increase emphasis on environmental regulation, dust and odor control have become an important factor to consider for contractors and site managers.
DUST AND ODOR CONTROL
In 2008, Buffalo Turbine developed the Monsoon misting line for dust and odor control. These systems utilize the existing turbine technology along with its gyratory atomizing nozzle (GAN) to effectively apply mist. Introducing atomized water droplets to dust is one of the best methods for controlling and reducing dust in commercial applications. By creating a canopy of micron size atomized fluid droplets, fugitive airborne dust particles instantly bond to it, then become heavier and drop to the ground. Monsoon models range from electric, gas, diesel, PTO, and Hydraulic, all available with optional oscillation. Monsoons are quickly gaining traction in recycling, waste management, and demolition, worldwide. Unlike previous solutions to dust and odor control, Buffalo Turbine’s Monsoons are lightweight, maneuverable, cost-effective, and only require standard water supply pressure.
DIESEL ENGINE BENEFITS
To further reduce a contractor’s associated cost with environmental regulation compliance and increase productivity, Buffalo Turbine added an all-new, self-contained, Monsoon Diesel to its industry leading line of Monsoon dust control misting systems. Powering the Buffalo Turbine Monsoon Diesel is a Tier 4 compliant 26.5 hp Kohler 3-cylinder diesel engine. Built for industrial and commercial use, the diesel engine features liquid cooling, dual air cleaners, and both heat and oil safety shut offs. The overall cost savings and long-term benefits recognized by choosing the Monsoon Diesel include up to 15 percent greater fuel efficiency, up to twice the engine lifespan and it’s the common jobsite fuel. The Monsoon Diesel features a compact, easily maneuverable three-wheel off-highway trailer and common ¾-inch connection, which can adapt to most standard municipal water supply for fast jobsite set up. Once operational, the standard wireless remote will control both nozzle and throttle function. Also available is a 270 degree oscillation feature that can be turned on/off at the machine. This allows the nozzle to rotate up to 270 degrees on a vertical plane. Dual 6-gallon fuel tanks extend run time to 8 hours or more. To keep focused on the job at hand, Buffalo Turbines’ proprietary single stage turbine blower and gyratory atomizing nozzle eliminates costly downtime and maintenance associated with clogging tips on common spray nozzles used by the dust control misting system competitors.

GAS MODEL AVAILABLE
Since the release of the diesel monsoon’s new oscillation, Buffalo Turbine has been overwhelmed with customer requests for the same system to be fitted on their gasoline model (BT-MGC). Previous to its release, Buffalo Turbine offered optional oscillation through the use of a three-wheeled oscillation table base that ranged from 30 to 80 degrees of oscillation. Buffalo Turbine has responded to the requests with its new Monsoon Gas Complete 2 (BT-MGC2). The BT-MGC2 has the same oscillation and nearly identical coverage area compared to the diesel machine; it acts as the diesel’s counterpart depending on what type of fuel is on-site and what customers prefer.
AN INDUSTRY FIRST
In 2015, Buffalo Turbine developed yet another industry first. The new EFI monsoon will be the first electronically fuel injected (EFI), self-contained dust and odor control mister. The EFI will offer Kohler’s 26.5 hp EFI Engine. With growing fuel costs and heightened awareness of environmental impact, Kohler’s EFI engine has been designed to be up to 20 percent more fuel efficient than current carbureted engines in use. This efficiency will have less environmental impact and help reduce operating costs. Along with existing wireless nozzle and throttle controls, the EFI will offer the first truly wireless start/stop function without the need for the operator to choke the engine prior to starting. The new EFI is just another example of Buffalo Turbine’s continued passion for the creation of innovative and high quality turbine blower products. Buffalo Turbine’s progressive mentality is just one of many reasons it remains an industry leader in the dust and odor control industry.
MONSOON LINE OPTIONS
Other options available within the Monsoon line are the PTO, Hydraulic, and both smaller and larger gas models. These machines contribute to Buffalo Turbines diverse product line and have been developed based on customers’ requests. Although not quite as popular as the standard gas and diesel machines, they have found a place in the product line and allow customers to fit the machines to their specific applications. An added feature for ALL the Monsoons is the ability to change the machine over to a commercial debris blower simply by taking the atomizing nozzle off. These debris blowers make cleanup jobs quick and save companies both labor time and effort.
