Brandon Harp, owner of B2 Contracting Inc., grew up around all types of equipment and knows a thing or two about what makes machines good. His father also had a construction business and helped build staples of Georgia like the Hartsfield International Airport and the Georgia World Congress Center. With B2 Contracting, Brandon is carrying on the legacy of community building that his father started. He is also training his six-year-old son to be next in line.
When Brandon called his longtime friend and local Hitachi machinery salesman with Cowin Equipment, Adam Mikell, one of the last things Adam expected to hear was, “I’m looking for a compact excavator for my son.” After some thought, Adam wasn’t surprised that Brandon wanted his son’s first machine to be a Hitachi excavator.
EFFICIENCY
Brandon understands that his most important role as a contractor is getting the job done efficiently and on time. When he first tested a Hitachi excavator he was impressed by their fluid motion and power. With the smooth operation of these machines, he knew their unique engineering could work through tough jobs with limited delays. Since then, he hasn’t wanted any other kind.
Now on one of their latest projects, a 17-acre, 25,000-cubic-yard earthmoving and 9,000-linear-foot pipelaying job in Newnan, Georgia, he is working exclusively with Hitachi excavators. The $3.5 million car dealership project is part of the rapid development of the communities around Georgia that is driven by local contractors.
“We have had zero problems,” Brandon says about all his Hitachi excavators, “I have not had to make the first service call.” From digging out ponds to placing large concrete pipes, Brandon knew he would not let his community down equipped with a ZX490, a ZX300, and a ZX245.
NEXT GENERATION
This jobsite is also where Brandon teaches his son how to operate his new ZX17 compact excavator. When his son showed interest in excavators, he wanted the training to be smooth and uninterrupted by downtime, so he knew a Hitachi excavator was the way to go.
“One day he’ll run his own company, and it means a lot for his first machine to be a Hitachi excavator,” says Adam.
The ZX17 is the smallest of Hitachi’s excavators but is nimble and designed to keep its tail close to its tracks. It features advanced hydraulics, versatile controls, and a strong structure and undercarriage to tackle a variety of job sites
Brandon uses Hitachi machinery because he knows that he can depend on them to build his community. He trains his son on a Hitachi excavator because he knows future generations will be built better with Hitachi Construction Machinery.
