Watch the entire ground-up construction of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory – a new astronomical facility located on top of Cerro Pachón, a mountain in northern Chile. For eight years, EarthCam captured hundreds of thousands of high-quality images and panoramas to bring this project to life in a 4K time-lapse. The observatory will conduct a 10-year survey of the Southern Hemisphere sky in exquisite detail and help answer some of the biggest questions about the Universe, thanks to an 8.4-meter mirror and the largest camera ever built for astronomy and astrophysics.
